This song was written in the late winter of 1999 around the same time as “The State I’m In”.

I received a call from my sister late one night looking for solace in a moment of personal crisis. I, thinking I was right at the time, said all the wrong things and added still more tinder to an already searing situation. After the conversation, I lay on my couch with only the ceiling as my companion realizing, too late, all the things I should have said. There are seldom second chances in life but this song is a passionate effort at making amends for my error in time. It is the expression of all the things I wished I had said then… but failed to.

That is all I really desire to say about the song. It is my most personal effort to date, and I even questioned whether or not I would ever release the melody from my heart. In the end, however, I suppose it is important to let others hear this work. Maybe it will help someone.

I still remain proud, though a shade uncomfortable, with the naked honesty expressed in this song.
